Who can apply
Student journalists at Oregon colleges and universities who have completed a basic reporting course or who have journalism experience on campus publications can apply. The application must include:
- A 500-word essay describing your journalism experience to date and discussing why you are committed to a career in journalism and what you hope to achieve
- A résumé.
- Two letters of recommendation. These should be from professors, academic advisers, employers, or internship supervisors. Please include the letters with your application.
- Work samples. Submit up to ten clippings of stories or headlines you’ve written, pages you’ve laid out, or photos you’ve taken. Samples may include work submitted for class assignments.
- Official transcript from your college or university. Please include this with your application.
NOTE: The application and supporting materials should be prepared so that they fit neatly into a letter-sized file folder. Please do not send formal portfolios or use oversize pages.
Deadline: Applications must be postmarked by Friday, January 25, 2008
